New to Medicare and turning 65 soon?

Medicare is complicated, but it shouldn't be difficult. Let us help make your decision easy.

When you literally have hundreds of plans to pick from, how do you know which one to choose?

If you’re getting close to your 65th birthday, you know that your struggle and frustration is not because of a lack of information.

Every day you’re getting mail, phone calls, or even email with more and more stuff about Medicare.

What you’re looking for is a way to make sense of it all, and make a decision that is going to be best for you in your unique situation.

So how do you navigate this information overload to pick the plan that’s right for you?

  • Do you just get the same plan as your sister, next door neighbor, or friend from church?
  • Maybe you just sign up with whoever has the nicest looking brochure that comes in the mail?
  • How about going with that telemarketer that seems to know what he or she is talking about?

There's a better way...

The agent, or agency, that is best able to help you will have these critical qualities:

  • Offers both Medicare Supplement (Medigap) AND Medicare Advantage plans
  • Represents plans of many different insurance companies, not just one or two
  • Has years of experience in the industry
  • Will be easy to contact months or years down the road to answer any follow-up questions you have, or help you with billing issues or unpaid claims
  • Does NOT charge any fees or markups for their service

A bit later, I’ll explain why each of these is important…

I can help you cut through the confusion to find a plan that fits you best.

I have been helping folks just like you with their Medicare decision since 2012.

I’ve had thousands of conversations with folks coming up on their 65th birthday, and everyone’s situation has been a bit different: health, finances, access to other insurance, preference for being able to see certain doctors. Everyone's needs and wants are unique and individual to them.

Here is the process that I'll take you through when you're new to Medicare:

Find out what your situation is regarding:

  • Your current insurance plan, and
  • Any other insurance options you have once Medicare starts

Explain the Medicare basics including:

  • The 4 parts of Medicare
  • How to sign up for Medicare, and
  • What the 2 main types of supplemental insurance options are, how they work, and the pros and cons of each

Give you rates for Medigap, Medicare Advantage, and Prescription Drug Plans available to you in your area based on things like your:

  • Zip code and county
  • Tobacco use
  • Gender, and
  • Ability to see the doctors and healthcare providers you wish

Once you know all of your options including plan prices, features, pros and cons, we work together to figure out the best plan for you based on your:

  • Budget
  • Health needs
  • Ability to see the doctors and healthcare providers you wish

Throughout the process, we will go at your pace.  There will NEVER be any high-pressure sales tactics used, nor will I try to force you into a plan because it represents my best interest.  I am licensed with about 20 insurance companies which means I represent your best interest, not that of any one particular company.

Here is what some of my clients have said about working with me in this process...

I was greatly confused when I retired about health care. I retired from a hospital and my health care choices were very limited because they worked with one company for all employees. After retiring I had so many choices with different coverages from different company's I just wanted to run the other way. Chris patiently explained it to me and helped me make the best choice for me at that time in my life.

When I first signed up for Medicare and was looking for supplemental coverage, it was a daunting task researching all the options and choices. In one meeting, Chris explained how the system works, helped my wife and I find coverage that suited our needs, signed us up and submitted all the necessary paperwork. What was taking me weeks to do, Chris did in one meeting.

Choosing your Medicare plan should NOT be a one-and-done decision

Your Medicare decision at age 65 is extremely important.  But, you’re going to be on Medicare the rest of your life.  Choosing the best plan should not be a one-and-done decision, but rather one that involves regular check-ups and reviews.

Things will change over time whether it’s your healthcare needs, your budget, or your plan.  Sometimes it can be all three of these at once.

The plan that you pick at age 65 might not be the best plan 10 years, 5 years, or even 1 year later.

So, if you sign up for your plan at 65 with:

  • Someone who doesn’t offer both Medigap and Medicare Advantage plans, they may not be able to help you later as things change
  • Someone who just represents one or two companies, they’ll never let you know later on that you can save money by switching to a competitor
  • Someone new to the industry, there’s a decent chance they won’t be around in a few years to help you review or change your plan, or help you with bills and follow-up questions
  • Someone who charges for their services, then they’ll likely charge for ongoing service too

This is why it’s extremely important to get the help of an agent who is a Medicare expert who is able to give you unbiased help and ongoing service.  If you sign up for a plan directly with an insurance company or through some random telemarketer who calls you, you likely will either be enrolling in a plan that’s not right for you to start with or hurting yourself later when things change.

Here are all the things I offer to anyone new to Medicare at age 65:
